Uses |
Preoperative Medication: Glycopyrrolate is commonly administered before surgery to reduce salivary gland and respiratory secretions. By inhibiting these secretions, it helps maintain a clear airway during procedures. Treatment of Stomach Ulcers: When used in combination with other medications, glycopyrrolate is indicated for the treatment of stomach ulcers in adults and children aged 12 and older. Stomach ulcers, also known as peptic ulcers, result from the erosion of the protective lining of the stomach due to excessive gastric acid production. Glycopyrrolate helps alleviate the symptoms associated with stomach ulcers. Sialorrhea (Excessive Salivation): Glycopyrrolate is effective in managing sialorrhea, a condition characterized by excessive saliva production. It achieves this by inhibiting salivation, which can be beneficial in conditions where excessive drooling is a concern, such as in certain neurological disorders. |

The correlation between the plasma concentration of glycopyrrolate and the drug effects appears to be variable. Because of its sensitivity, the RRA method proved to be quite useful in evaluating the kinetics of glycopyrrolate and its relationship to various clinical effects.
